consumerism
angels ,
Can anyone who has visited the pink wall in LA tell me what is so special about it? I keep coming across videos of people taking photos against it, and is that all it is? A background for photos to show off to your friends? It is so ironic that the bins in this parking lot are full of Starbucks 'Unicorn Frappe' drinks. It is the illustration of consumerism. And they complain about the song, 'Ain't In LA', saying that Adela is saying people from LA are all the same.
I just personally don't understand visiting such an iconic place with lots of other things to offer, but to just drive to a painted pink wall (you could probably find one locally) and take photos pretending it's 2016?? It makes me a bit sad, if I'm honest. It's another example of how social media and influence has destroyed our lives. The Unicorn Frappe, which my friend forced me to try, is disgusting. Be so for real, no one actually finished that drink. The bins on this lot, as I mentioned before, saw many Unicorn Frappes that hadn't been drank - and obviously purchased just for the photos.
The pink wall in LA sits in a parking lot. It isn't even in an iconic area.
Anyway, that was just my thought of the day.

cinema review
Angels ,
Today I saw 'Pressure' - a film following James Stagg, a Scottish meteorologist who was chosen to predict the weather for June 5th, and famously persuaded Dwight D. Eisenhower to delay the D-Day invasion. I would rate the move a solid 7/10. It was enjoyable, interesting and slightly cheesy, but not so much that it made me cringe (which most movies do).
Stagg is a genius, and well-known around the country for his expertise. Irving Krick is an American meteorologist who has predicted weather in North Africa and America, but never in Europe before. Krick uses historic logs of weather to predict the future weather, which he calls is completely sunny and perfect conditions for an invasion.
Stagg, however, disagrees.
He finds storms heading to France, which would ruin the whole attack. Eisenhower and his team laugh at Stagg's proposal to delay D-Day until the 18th of June. After countless arguments and eternal persuasion, Stagg finally gets Eisenhower to delay the attack. Meanwhile, Stagg finds out his wife is missing.

ANGELS ,
Does anyone else agree that this week has been the longest week ever? I'm absolutely exhausted from the week, and so I'm taking this weekend to relax and be 'lazy'.
I think that a lot of people take the word 'lazy' as scroll on your phone, lie in bed all day, watch TV and don't answer the door. For me, a lazy weekend is just taking things slowly, but still going out, cooking food etc... So today I'm going to see a movie and walk around central London.
This seems like the opposite of a 'lazy' task, but to me this is a break. I'm always rushing around to get to different places, and so just slowing down and walking when there's no end-goal is super relaxing to me.
Also - my birthday is next week?! It feels like this year has gone by so quickly. It feels crazy. I'm nervous for my birthday because that is the day the dreaded Harry Styles presale happens, and I am going to get tickets. Whether they're nosebleeds or VIP packages, we need to see him again!!!
Tears for Fears is opening, (Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Head Over Heels, etc.) which is crazy because they're my Dad's favourite band.

Today marks 25 years since the tragic attacks in New York City to the World Trade Centre on the 11th of September, 2001. I thought I would post something in honour of the innocent lives that were taken during this event - many of which were lost in order to save others.
The North Tower was attacked at 8:46am, and the South Tower at 9:03am. Many only had the option of burning, jumping or passing out from the smoke.
344 lives from the New York City Fire Department were lost, along with 2,977 citizen deaths in total.
It is important to honour the victims, families and witnesses of this tragic event, which should - and will - never be forgotten.

reading
I want to write about this because it was something I found striking during my English Lit class today. I was amongst eleven out of my class of thirty who was currently reading a book. And in a survey my school posted, only 36% of my school were frequent readers. That's just crazy to me.
Reading shouldn't be a chore. It should be for pleasure. Not just a way to build fundamental growth, but a way to dive into different realms and imagine things for yourself. You can design characters in your head, map out the different scenes and just really immerse yourself in the words.
I genuinely think you're not cool if you're against reading. There's a girl in my class who was making fun of us eleven who read, when in reality it's just sad if you're spending your time doomscrolling on TikTok when you could be reading. I won't be mean and assume she spends her time doomscrolling, but she sure doesn't possess much political opinions or debatability on certain ideas.
It is wrong to call someone politically unaware, because a lot of the time people don't form ideas on events mostly because they don't want to think about it. Maybe because they have family involved, or they themselves have some sort of personal connection to the affair - or it could just be that they don't want to think about wars and famine and corrupt governments.
I just personally love creating booklists, talking about books, writing reports on books and getting cosy in my bed with a good book. If people don't read, society dies. Society is unable to flourish if everyone is being influenced by social media.
It makes me really sad, this literary crisis we are facing. Some of my fondest memories are getting stuck in some really gripping books.
Little Women is one of my favourite books, and it pretty easy going. It is definitely one of the easier classics, so if you are reading this blog post and thinking 'Geez, I haven't read in ages!' go and buy a copy of Little Women, put your phone on Do Not Disturb, place it in another room and read.
