q & a

Thank you all for submitting questions to my q & a, I'm going to answer them now here:

What inspires you in your daily life?

That's such a good question! As I live in a city with millions of people, I usually find inspiration in the different styles and looks people go for. London Fashion Week was a great time to really see people's vibes, and I just think that it is so cool.

What's something you'd change in the world if you could?

I would most likely change poverty people are experiencing, also the wars going on in Ukraine and others around the world. I would also like to change the world so that men and women have the same rights in every country, but unfortunately I'm not sure if we'll ever reach that goal!

Do you have a favourite type of tree?

I love Christmas, so I'll go for a fir tree. I do love Oak trees as well.

What are your top four favourite films?

Harry Potter (all of the movies), Muppet's Christmas Carol, Legally Blonde, How To Lose A Guy in 12 Days and Ten Things I Hate About You.

If you could be any celebrity for a day, who would you be and why?

Zoe Kravitz, and not just because she's dating Harry Styles (of course not...) but she lives such an interesting life being the daughter of the iconic Lenny Kravitz. She's also best friends with Taylor Swift and she seems like such a cool person.

How can I dress 2000s style using basic clothes?

Focus on a base and use Pinterest as a way of organising outfits. I'd also recommend going through your clothes and recognising which ones are worthy to add to outfits. Hollister and Urban are the best places to go to for basic, cheap-ish clothes that still look vintage!

How to make fall more vibes?

Buy candles, wrap yourself in coats, drink Pumpkin spice lattes and listen to autumn playlists is all I can really say!

Bye angels.

sense and sensibility

I've just returned home from watching the new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, and I knew I would enjoy it being a Jane Austen lover and hopeless romantic. The Guardian newspaper rated this movie three stars, and upon seeing this review, I suddenly questioned going. I love the original adaptation of this novel, mostly because it depicts sisterhood, girlhood and romance in a jolly, light-hearted way.

Now that I've seen the movie, I would say that the director, Georgia Oakley, watched the 90s adaptation and decided to do the complete opposite - and I don't mean this as an insult. The movie itself was a lot more dark and gloomy. The hues of the screen tended to be blue and grey. The bad weather reflected the down-hearted moods of the sisters after leaving Norwood and residing in a small, coastal cottage.

The Guardian claimed that the casting was the main issue, but I actually think that the casting was what made this new movie so perfect. Daisy Edgar Jones as Eleanor was almost a match in heaven - she portrayed Eleanor perfectly, and even before watching the film I knew she would be good. Esme Creed Miles, who I had not heard of before this film, played Marianne very well too.

The Guardian mostly criticised the looks of Edward Ferrars and Willoughby, and I can sort of understand their point. It is quite a high standard already set with Hugh Grant and Greg Wise playing those two gentleman in the world-known adaptation years before. Frank Dillane played Willoughby fine in this movie. It wasn't anything too special, but it wasn't bad either. George McKay as Edward wasn't problematic for me, either.

In conclusion, it was a super good movie, and I would recommend seeing it - although I think the 1995 adaptation will always be my favourite !

cinema

It's been a small amount of time since I've posted, mostly because I've been absolutely swamped in schoolwork. I have so much to do tonight, but I am procrastinating, and instead typing on this blog rather than solving the value of x.

As you can see, I've changed up my blog. I really like the new look, especially the puffy tabs - but my lord, I forgot how tricky the coding on this website can be ! I was actually ill the other day and stayed in bed, and that is when I spent most my time changing things on here. I've also added a recipe on my recipes page.

Not much has really happened, though. This weekend, the new Sense and Sensibility movie is released in cinemas, along with Bad Apple featuring my favourite actress - Saoirse Ronan. I am seeing both in one day - I know, two cinema trips in one day probably isn't great for my health - but cinemas is another one of those experiences that have just been forgotten about !

My mother was recalling to me a lot of memories spent with friends and family at the cinema. She saw the first Jaws movie when it came out, and apparently the theatre was completely packed out ! A lot of people still go to the cinema, but there are no longer queues forming outside of the building, and tickets are usually able to purchase 24/7.

When I went to a special IMAX cinema to see the Odyssey, I was blown away by the amount of people who were there - that was my first movie that was fully packed out.

angels,

I'm going to do a Q & A soon , so please do ask me questions you'd like to know !

Sunday, 20 September 2026

angels,

Thank you so much for all the comments on my last post, it has been really interesting to read your thoughts. For some reason, there's a slight bug in that I'm unable to reply to any comments, but I have loved to read your personal experiences with the evil side of social media.

I've officially begun my two month period where I'm completely off social media. No TikTok and Instagram. I've been questioning over whether YouTube is a social media platform, and I've decided that for me personally, it's not. I don't watch YouTube shorts, I only watch video essays and with school and work I won't get time to watch many anyway.

After I've finished my two month break offline, I'm going to write an essay or at least a long piece about my experiences. Maybe even a video essay myself !

But back to the topic: I was now thinking more about this topic of consumerism, and I decided to watch some YouTube videos on it. Not only is the lack of independence such an issue, but as a society we've lost the ability to think critically. Movies are 'dumb' now. They feed the audience the parts of the plot that require thinking time. We get told who's the bad guy, who's the good guy, when I find the most fun part of a movie is discussing it afterward and working out who's the villain.

The same goes for books. Colleen Hoover, Freida McFadden and Ana Huang are amongst the most popular authors for teenagers to young adults recently. I have no hate toward these authors at all, but their books (I've read five) are all fast-paced. You know things quickly. You don't have to stop and question why. It is because as a society, we don't care about critical thinking any more.

It is why we're in such a harsh literary crisis.

There's also the question of who we can blame apart from ourselves. Can we blame the phones? The devices that hold the social media, that we call addicting? Can we blame the evil tech companies who code algorithms to keep us engaged? Or can we blame no one but ourselves for giving into the trickery, and is it too late?

How can we fight back? I ask myself this quite often. I think it is true, people are starting to take notice of how bad AI and social media is. How amazing life is offline. When you're not worrying about how many views your post has.

Many people above the age of 21 are starting to delete social media such as Snapchat as they enter adulthood.

The UK are introducing an Under 16 Social Media Ban, which Australia originally put in place a while back. However, I don't believe it'll work. The teens won't be suddenly back to acting how we used to before it was all about social media. They'll be feral animals, trying to find loopholes in the systems. We all remember when the US banned TikTok for a day, and even then influencers were so desperate to post that they found ways around the ban.

The only way we can fight back now is by deleting social media once and for all. Just fight back for yourself.

Anyway, those are my thoughts!

I've also been inspired to start my own magazine. I'm going to start by making one issue, and selling it for free. I'll find a way for you guys to be able to purchase (£0.00) on here, and the issue will likely be a digital PDF you can download. I'm just experimenting for now.

Bye Angels !

angels,

I've already written about this before, but I'm going to go into more detail this time. Social media is ruining our lives, in yet more ways. People are buying into consumerism just because an influencer or celebrity posts them doing something. Do we all remember that video Hailey Bieber posted where she eats sushi in a face mask, and suddenly it became a huge trend?

The reason I'm writing this is because earlier I was talking to my mum about what career path I want to take, and if you've been following for a while, you will know that my dream is to become a journalist in fashion media. It used to be pretty easy to pump your writing into the world, via blogs, articles, publications... physical media that the public actually read. The only real way to get your business (in my case, writing) out into the world in this age is by starting a social media account, and entering the influencer world, which means engaging in trends that change by the minute.

I suppose I've only been on social media for the past 5-6 years. I'm not sure whether it was different pre-Covid, but I feel that everyone started TikTok/Instagram/YouTube accounts whilst stuck at home. This was at least the time for prime YouTube, where it was almost easy to post a video and receive many views. Then TikTok launched and soared in popularity. Scrolling became the new hobby for most teenagers and adults, and now we enter this age of influencing as an occupation?

This is why we need to bring back physical media. This is why it is so important to teach the younger generation to find interest in art. To explore literature, and plays, and films, and artworks that question our society. We want to be different and interesting - and copying people who dance (if you call it that, more waving your hands with zero energy, an insult to actual dance) or eat sushi with a face mask on merely shows how as a society we are being hypnotised.

Another question is over whether social media is also influencing racism and sexism. Perhaps feminism is being affected by 'trad' wives who post videos presenting their ideal life - the reason for the sudden book hit, 'Yesteryear' - which I read not long ago (it is not worth the hype).

I'm not sure what I'm trying to get out of this post, but I would like to hear your guys' views, if you got this far !

bye angels !!
